What if you gave a primary and nobody campaigned?

For the next week, the Republican Candidates for President will be in Florida stumping for their party’s nomination.

The Democratic candidates will be absent.

The National Democratic Party decided to punish Florida Democrats because Florida moved it’s primary date to January 29, leapfrogging a February 5 line-in-the-sand established by the national party.

Yes, a national party tried to dictate the election schedule of a sovereign state.

Democratic candidates have pledged not to campaign in the Sunshine State in support of the position taken by the national party. The party has determined that Florida’s delegates will not be counted at the national convention.

That’s right - the Democratic Party will not accept the results of Florida democratic voters.

Florida, which has been a key state in several recent elections. A state where a 1,000 +- vote swing in 2000 changes history. A state that can’t be ignored, will be. The Republicans will have free reign for the next week to lock down their base, sway independents, and convince undecideds. Then the Democratic nominee will have to return after the convention to undo the damage.

The Democratic National Committee - today’s Polititard.

florida democrats votes not counted (Well, not really…)

  2. McCain should ensure his nomination at the RNC Sept. 1st, especially if FL goes his way. His credentials far outweigh those of his competitors. Interestingly, both JohnMcCain.name and MikeHuckabee.name are unused and for sale.
